International Scholarships

Mission Statement

West Virginia University strives to provide its students with an inclusive educational experience. We are pleased to offer incoming, freshmen international students the opportunity to receive academic scholarships. International students graduating from a high school located in the United States will be considered for a University Merit or Scholarship of Distinction using criteria located at http://undergradscholarships.wvu.edu/freshman/non-resident.

International students who are admitted as incoming transfer students to West Virginia University will be considered for our Transfer Scholarships only. Please visit http://undergradscholarships.wvu.edu/transfer for additional information.


Program Requirements

Please note the scholarship award levels below are effective with the incoming freshmen class of 2016, and are not retroactive to previous entering classes.

  1. A minimum incoming, high school GPA of 3.00.
  2. Students beginning in the fall semester must be admitted to the University by the Office of Admissions by June 15. Students starting in the spring semester must be admitted to the University by December 1.

Level 1

Requirements

– 3.5 incoming GPA

– Award Amount: $7,000 per year for four undergraduate years

GPA of 3.00 to renew each academic year along with 30 earned credit hours

Level 2

Requirements

– 3.25 incoming GPA

– Award Amount: $6,000 per year for four undergraduate years

GPA of 2.75 to renew each academic year along with 30 earned credit hours

Level 3

Requirements

– 3.0 incoming GPA

– Award Amount: $5,000 per year for four undergraduate years
